2026 Montana Reduced Property Tax Forms Now Available

The Montana Department of Revenue has released the 2026 enrollment forms for reduced property tax rates on primary (homestead) residences and long-term rental properties.

Primary Residence Owners:
If you claimed the 2025 property tax rebate, you may already be enrolled, but it's important to verify your status. If not enrolled, complete the Homestead Enrollment Form.

Long-Term Rental Owners:
To qualify for reduced rental property tax rates, submit the Long-Term Rental Form.

Multi-Use Properties:
Homes with both owner-occupied and rental units must enroll each portion separately to receive the correct reduced rates.

Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2026 to be considered for the 2026 tax year. Review your status and submit the appropriate form to ensure the correct tax rate is applied.

If you’re unsure which category applies to your property, visit the Montana DOR website for Frequently Asked Questions on Homesteads and Long-Term Rentals. PureWest is happy to help connect you with your local Field Office and additional resources so you can take advantage of any available tax savings in 2026.
