All our Montana farmers markets are destination events, offering the best homegrown and homemade goods for sale, and often including food trucks and live music. They are an opportunity to shop local, run into friends and acquaintances, and spend an enjoyable morning or evening supporting our local communities. From Whitefish to Bozeman, here’s where the action is this summer:
Flathead Valley
Whitefish: Every Tuesday evening from May to September, the action is at the north end of downtown at Depot Park. The Whitefish Farmers Market features farm offerings, baked goods, food trucks, crafts and live music.
Columbia Falls: The Columbia Falls Community Market takes place at 830 1st Avenue West, to the west and north of O’Brien’s Liquor and Wine. With music and dancing as well as food and farm goods, the market is a destination event on Thursday evenings in Columbia Falls.
Kalispell: The Kalispell Farmers Market brings its offerings to the north end of town every Saturday morning at Flathead Valley Community College. This market runs from the first Saturday in May through the second Saturday in October; a final fall harvest market takes place the third Saturday of October at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.
Bigfork: Bigfork comes alive in the summer with two different markets, the Bigfork Farmers Market on Wednesday evenings and the Bigfork Village Market on Monday evenings. The Bigfork Farmers Market was named the 2021 “Best Grocery Store and Supermarket” in the Best of Bigfork awards.
Polson: At the south end of Flathead Lake, the Polson Farmers Market takes place on Friday mornings from May through October. Over 50 vendors provide locally grown farm goods, baked goods, and handcrafted items.
Missoula and the Bitterroot
Missoula has several different markets, beginning with the Missoula Farmers Market on Saturday mornings beginning in May, and a second Tuesday evening market that starts in July. Nearly 100 local vendors fill Circle Square at the North End of Higgins Street!
The Clark Fork River Market takes place under the Higgins Street Bridge on Saturday mornings and features farm goods, live music, coffee, and food vendors serving breakfast and lunch.
If you enjoy the handmade goods often available at farmers markets, the Missoula People’s Market is for you. It’s an entire event dedicated to local artisans and handcrafted goods, held every Saturday morning at the corner of Pine and Higgins.
South of Missoula, the Hamilton Farmers Market showcases the best of the Bitterroot Valley with almost 100 vendors each Saturday morning in historic downtown Hamilton. With everything from radishes and zucchini to soap and leather goods, it is a delightful way to start the weekend.
Bozeman and Big Sky
The Gallatin Valley Farmers Market turns 50 this year! This season begins on June 19 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Bozeman and will run every Saturday morning through September 11.
Bozeman also offers the Bozeman Farmers Market each Tuesday evening from June 15 to September 7 in Lindley Park. A portion of the Market’s revenue is dedicated to the preservation and improvement of city parks, so you can feel even better about shopping local at the market.
The Big Sky Farmers Market takes place on Wednesday nights from June through August on Town Center Avenue in Big Sky Town Center. With live music and local vendors, it is a beautiful way to spend a beautiful evening!
Farmers markets are one of the many ways to make the most of our beautiful Montana summers. A stroll through a market is a great family activity and a way to actively—and deliciously—support your local community. At PureWest, we believe in the strength of our communities and the importance of supporting the small businesses that keep our towns and cities unique and vibrant. We’ll see you at the market!
