John has always had a passion for outdoor adventure and exploring, and Montana was the perfect place for him to pursue those dreams. He has lived in many towns throughout Montana for over 40 years, and believes that the entire state feels like one big friendly small town. John pursued a career in real estate because it was another adventure, and because he enjoys guiding people with their real estate needs. John’s diverse background in geology, consulting, photography, and real estate, along with his professionalism and commitment to customer service, puts clients at ease as they experience smooth, successful transactions. John’s academic background includes BS (Northern Arizona University) and MS (Montana State University) degrees in geology. Prior to his career in real estate, John worked for years as a petroleum exploration geologist, and later for over 25 years as a hydrogeologist in environmental and groundwater consulting. His consulting background involved a wide range of projects on residential, ranch, industrial, governmental, mining, and commercial properties. John also taught geology as a laboratory and field instructor at Flathead Valley Community College, and worked at Montana guest ranches as a cross-country ski guide, and as a fly-fishing/rafting guide on horse pack adventures into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. John is also a published photographer and has many years of experience in professional real estate photography. John is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys downhill and backcountry skiing, camping, fishing, hunting, biking, gardening, backpacking, river camping, photography, and many other outdoor activities. John and his wife Cindy are a PureWest husband/wife real estate team that provide a wide and experienced skillset for their clients throughout northwest Montana.
