Summer | Float down Whitefish Lake from City Beach… to the ice cream shop. Paddle your SUP out onto Whitefish Lake for a sunbathing session. Tire out the kids at Whitefish Mountain Resort’s thrilling, challenging Aerial Adventure Park. Wander the artist booths at Huckleberry Days Art Festival. Bake a fresh pie with plump huckleberries picked that day. Saunter through wildflower meadows, climb over mountains, and plunge into the turquoise waters of Glacier National Park. Saddle up and ride gentle cross-country bike trails, or challenging downhill flow trails. Drive up into the northern Whitefish Range with a car full of friends, a grill, and a comfy car-camping setup.

Can’t-miss event: Whitefish Gallery Nights, May thru October

Fall | Polka ‘till you drop at the Great West Oktoberfest, a multi-weekend affair with live music, competitive stein-holding, and local brews. With the Whitefish Golf Course open through the end of October, watch the colors change from the green. Use a fat-tire bike to travel the local Whitefish Trail system—with light snowfall, it feels like an entirely new experience. Soak up the off-season quiet at popular tourist destinations in Glacier National Park, like the famous Highline Trail. Just be sure to pack some warm layers! Can’t-miss event: Bob Marshall Wilderness fundraising event Voices of the Wilderness

 Winter | Lap Chair 1 groomers, drop cliffs in Hellroaring Basin, and soul-shred the Flower Point trees at Whitefish Mountain Resort—or Big Mountain, as locals call it. Grab a pint at the Bierstube, up on the resort, which is a true skier’s bar. Outside, a glowing sign prays for “More Powder Please.” Get into a rhythm at numerous Nordic ski centers, offering terrain ranging from scenic to challenging. To go further, faster, explore 2,000 miles of unplowed Forest Service Roads by snowmobile. During the holiday shopping season, wander downtown Whitefish’s whimsically decorated Central Ave. Get season’s tickets to the Whitefish Theatre Company, a 40-year-old Whitefish cultural institution.
