Wonderful Ways to Explore Kalispell!

The PureWest Christie’s Real Estate of Northwest Montana team knows the highways and byways of the beautiful Flathead Valley in the summertime. Summertime means an explosion of outdoor fun and activity.  Blogger XPatMatt recently took to our hometown of Kalispell to explore the Flathead Valley and beyond.  In his recent blog “Some Awesome Things to Do in Kalispell,” Matt explores our area through a fresh set of eyes.  Through his writing, we explore the many options for outdoor fun in our surroundings.

Explore Herron Park

Herron Park is the trailhead for the Foys to Blacktail Trails, just 10 minutes outside of downtown Kalispell. Herron Park is 440 acres of forested playland for the whole family, with over 15 miles of hilly trails for mountain biking, hiking, and viewing pleasure.

Hike Glacier National Park

The rounded mountains and sweeping valleys of Glacier National Park (not surprisingly) impressed the Canadian blogger. Glacier Guides took Matt to the popular Avalanche Lake hike on the easternmost edge of the Pacific Northwest temperate coastal rainforest. It is popular for a reason. The ubiquitous bright green moss and vividly colored cedar trees make a soothing and energetic palette for a landscape. Just one of many hikes available in the over 400 miles of Glacier National Park’s trail system, Avalanche Lake is a can’t miss for the whole family.

Horseback Ride in the Salish Mountains

The Salish Mountains provide a panoramic view of the Flathead Valley and adjacent Flathead Mountain Range. Just 20 minutes from Kalispell, XPatMatt used a local guide service, Artemis Acres, whom provided a fun horseback ride and took him on some off-trail jaunts through the woods where he was actually piloting the horse, rather than just sitting on a horse trained to follow the leader.  Say what you wish about horseback riding, but if you are traveling to Montana, its a wonderful way to get with the program.

Stand Up Paddleboard on Flathead Lake

Paddleboard Outfitters is a local company whose owner builds and sells stand up paddle boards and provides rentals and tours on Flathead Lake. Matt began his “SUP” experience in Somers Bay and cruised around the lake in the meditative and serene surroundings. Flathead Lake provides excellent scenery with an interesting variety of tiny islands, towns, and impressive real estate.

Matt does a great job of exposing just a few of the activities one can enjoy in the Flathead area. PureWest Real Estate provides the knowledge anyone may need to take full advantage of the Kalispell area, and we are proud to call this place home.
