Montana’s top-tier academic institutions have a bit of a rivalry. If you’re considering Missoula Montana real estate, you’re looking at Griz country, home to the University of Montana. And if you’re becoming a Bozemanite, that’s Bobcat territory, home of Montana State University.
Every fall for the last 18 years, both towns have taken their rivalries off the field during a canned food drive, aiming to collect more non-perishable food than their opponent. This year’s winner will be announced on November 22, during halftime at the ‘Brawl of The Wild’ Cat-Griz game. But no matter who takes the title, it’s really Montana families that win.
Over the last few years, communities have doubled and tripled their contributions to the drive, and in 2016, both college towns collected a record amount of food. We want to help beat the record once more, so PureWest offices in Bozeman and Missoula are drop locations this year. We’re also having our own friendly competition to see which office can collect more for the cause!
We like to say that Montana is one big Main Street. What this means is that when a neighbor is in need, we help each other out. If this food drive inspires you, learn more about how the Gallatin Valley Food Bank supports its community here, and read the Missoula Food Bank’s annual report here. Both organizations welcome volunteers—learn more about volunteering at the Gallatin Valley Food Bank here, and find info about volunteering at the Missoula Food Bank here.
