Fa la la! It’s winter in Bigfork, Montana’s Christmas Village. This tight-knit community on the northeast shores of Flathead Lake embraces the changing of the seasons by gathering, on a late-November weekend morning, to deck the halls downtown. The Elves, as these volunteers are called, spend hours lovingly adorning adorable storefronts and streetlights, arranging greenery, bows, and sparkle. We were especially excited for this year’s festivities because we got to decorate our recently remodeled Bigfork MT real estate office—and we’re proud to announce we placed 3rd in the Second Annual Bigfork Area Window Decorating Contest!
The centerpiece of our window decorations are stockings embroidered with every agent’s name—we wanted to emphasize how our Realtors build “Relationships for Life.”
On our front window, we chose a Wizard of Oz theme to celebrate how lovely it is to be home for the holidays! Growing up, Jennifer Shelley, Bigfork-based PureWest owner, loved this movie. When she was just 5 years old she dreamed of the mountains. When she first visited Bigfork, Flathead Lake, and the Rocky Mountains 33 years ago, she remembers thinking, “This is it, this is my Oz, my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” She clicked her heels (or Sorel boots) together, and soon after, Montana became her forever home. And as we know, “there’s no place like home”.
Bigfork is bustling with seasonal spirit as we approach Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The Bigfork Children’s Theater presents the classic tale A Christmas Story, kiddos are invited to Santa’s Workshop this weekend to make toys, Whistling Andy Distillers is hosting a cookie decorating day, and every Friday up until Christmas, downtown celebrates with a community bonfire and late store hours to accommodate shoppers. (Don’t miss the December 20th community bonfire—Santa’s reindeer are making an appearance!)
