Welcome to spring! We’re a few months deep in 2017, and it finally feels normal to write that as the year! It’s an exciting time, and not least because the snow blanketing Southwest Montana is giving way to fresh, green bloom. The first quarter market statistics are in. Comparing these sales to the first quarter of 2016 gives us a good benchmark to see how we’re doing. And we’re excited! The Bozeman Montana property market is in excellent shape. The number of sales in Q1 of 2017 increased over Q1 of 2016 across Montana’s entire Southwest region!
Overall, residential properties in the Greater Gallatin region came out with a strong start to 2017. Agents sold 544 homes, compared to 494 during the first quarter of 2016. The total volume of sales during this time period increased by nearly 25 percent! And while PureWest agents made fewer land sales than they did at the start of 2016, the total volume also increased here, by more than 15 percent.
In both Bozeman and Big Sky, agent sold more residential properties during this quarter than during Q1 of 2016. The median price and volume increased in both markets. Also of note: land sales in Big Sky doubled!
Elsewhere in the Gallatin region, markets showed signs of strength. Residential sales increased in Belgrade, Ennis, and Livingston. Livingston, the star of this quarter, posted particularly impressive numbers: the total volume of residential properties sold increased by 87 percent! Land sales also increased in Livingston.
